1. Overview
CuratedLedger is a personal finance planner for iPhone and iPad. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it is stored, and the choices you have.
CuratedLedger is published by Curated Design Limited (“Curated Design”, “we”), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16720521. Our registered office is Floor 1, 8 Park Crescent, London W1B 1PG.
In short: your ledger stays on your device and in your own private iCloud database. Curated Design does not run a server for CuratedLedger and cannot see your financial information. The app contains no advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics.
2. Information you may enter
Depending on how you use CuratedLedger, the app may hold:
- Account balances and debts, including names, balances, minimum payments, interest rates and notes.
- Income, including recurring income, individual payments, and how certain you expect them to be.
- Expenses, including recurring costs, irregular allowances, dated one-off costs, categories and notes.
- Spending you record during check-ins, and a history of your balances each time you update them.
- Transactions imported from bank or card statements, with the categories you assign and the merchant rules the app remembers for next time.
- Profiles, such as personal and business, together with your reserves for tax, commitments, savings and a safety buffer.
- Your preferences and settings for the app.
You decide what to enter. CuratedLedger never asks for bank logins, card numbers or passwords, and it does not connect to your bank.
3. Local storage and iCloud sync
Your ledger is stored locally on your device using Apple platform storage.
When your device is signed in to iCloud, your ledger is also stored in your private database in Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) and synced between the devices signed in to your Apple Account. That database belongs to your Apple Account, and Curated Design does not have access to it. Apple handles iCloud data under its own privacy policy and your iCloud settings.
To stop CuratedLedger syncing, turn off iCloud for CuratedLedger in your device’s Apple Account and iCloud settings. This stops future syncing from that device. It does not delete data already stored in iCloud. See Deleting and managing your data below.
4. Statement import
Importing statements is optional. CuratedLedger can only read a statement file you choose yourself in the system file picker.
The file is read on your device. CuratedLedger keeps the transactions you review, their categories, the file’s name and the period it covers, and syncs them like the rest of your ledger. It does not keep a copy of the file, and nothing is sent to Curated Design.
5. Exports and sharing
CuratedLedger can create a PDF report, a spreadsheet (CSV) file, and an “AI review” file: a text summary of your finances you can give to an AI assistant of your choice. CuratedLedger has no AI of its own and sends nothing to any AI service.
Exports are created on your device and only leave it when you choose to share or save them using the system share sheet. Once shared, a file is handled by the app, service or person you send it to, under their own terms. Please consider what an export contains before sharing it.
6. Notifications
CuratedLedger can remind you to do your weekly check-in. These are local notifications that your device schedules itself. They are not sent from a Curated Design server. You can turn them off in the app or in your device’s notification settings.
7. No advertising, tracking, or analytics
CuratedLedger does not include advertising, third-party analytics, or tracking SDKs, and it does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
CuratedLedger has no custom backend. Curated Design does not operate a server that receives or stores your financial information, and we have no access to the information in your private iCloud database. We do not sell or share your information.
8. Deleting and managing your data
- In the app: you can delete accounts, debts, income, expenses, imported statements and other items in CuratedLedger. If iCloud sync is on, those deletions sync to your other devices.
- Balance history: deleting an account or debt keeps its past balances in your history, so your records stay accurate. Deleting a profile removes its whole history; if you only have one profile, delete the app and its iCloud data as described below.
- Turning sync off: this stops syncing from that device. It does not delete data already stored in your iCloud account.
- Deleting the app: deleting CuratedLedger from an iPhone or iPad removes the ledger stored on that device. It does not remove data stored in iCloud.
- iCloud data: you can review your iCloud storage in your device’s Apple Account and iCloud settings, where apps storing data in iCloud may be listed and their data deleted. Deleting it there removes it from iCloud for all your devices.
- Exports: files you have shared or saved are not affected by any of the above. Delete them wherever you stored or sent them.
9. Not financial advice
CuratedLedger is a planning tool. Figures such as safe-to-spend, runway and forecasts are estimates calculated from the information you enter, and they are only as accurate as that information. They are not financial, tax or investment advice. For decisions that matter, speak to a qualified adviser.
