Questions about working with the studio
Where is Curated Design based, and where do you work?
Curated Design is an interior design studio based in London. We work across the UK and on selected international projects, particularly in the Middle East, and can support remote and overseas clients.
Who runs Curated Design?
Curated Design was founded in 2026 by Josh Gourgey, an interior designer with seven years of experience across London residential developments, hospitality projects such as hotels and restaurants, and international work, particularly in the Middle East.
What kinds of projects do you take on?
Residential homes and apartments; hospitality projects such as restaurants, bars, and boutique stays; and commercial interiors. We work on both new-build and refurbishment schemes, with private clients, architects, and developers.
What interior design services do you offer?
Six services that can be taken together or on their own: Concept Design, Interior Architecture Design, Bespoke Furnishing, Plans and Elevations, Procurement, and Styling. Together they cover a project from the first layout and mood direction to ordering, installation, and the finished, styled space.
Can I hire you for one room or one stage of a project?
Yes. The studio can provide full design or focused input on layouts, materials, and styling. Concept Design, for example, suits single-room projects and focused refreshes, and Plans and Elevations suits projects that already have a direction but need drawings for pricing.
How does a project work?
Most projects follow three stages. Brief and concept: we learn how the space is used, with an optional site visit and measurements, and develop layouts and mood direction. Design development: plans, elevations, and visualisations show how the design will look and feel before anything is committed to. Delivery and styling: procurement, coordination of installation with contractors and suppliers, then furniture, art, and styling.
Can I see the design before I commit?
Yes. The studio produces a free photo-realistic render of your space, so you can see how it will look before committing to anything. Every piece is then set out in an itemised plan, priced openly before anything is ordered.
How long does it take?
It depends on the scope. As a guide, Concept Design typically takes 1–2 weeks, Plans and Elevations 1–4 weeks, Styling 1–3 weeks, Bespoke Furnishing 2–6 weeks, and Interior Architecture Design 3–8 weeks. Procurement runs for as long as the project needs it.
How much does an interior designer cost with Curated Design?
On furnishing projects where the studio supplies the pieces, there is no design fee for you to pay: the studio is paid from the trade pricing suppliers give it, not from a fee added on top. For design-only work, such as a concept or a set of drawings on its own, fees are based on scope. Share the basics through an enquiry and we will reply with next steps and an estimated fee range.
Is it cheaper to furnish through an interior designer than to buy everything myself?
Often, yes. As a trade buyer, the studio receives trade pricing from suppliers that is not available at retail, and passes a share of that saving on to you. Because the studio is paid from that trade margin rather than a design fee, the same pieces can cost you less than buying them yourself. For example, a room you were planning to furnish yourself for £10,000 at retail could come in at around £8,000, with the same specification and nothing left out. Savings vary by supplier and project, and every piece is set out in an itemised plan, priced openly before anything is ordered.
Do you handle ordering, delivery, and installation?
Yes. Our Procurement service places orders with approved suppliers on your behalf, tracks lead times, coordinates delivery and storage, deals with damages, delays, and substitutions, and keeps a clear procurement log. We then coordinate installation with contractors and suppliers.
